The UDH II profile assesses the sleep/wake cycle to help diagnose hormone-related causes of sleep loss.

Key Details

  • 🩸 DO NOT collect while menstruating.

  • 🦠 DO NOT collect while sick.

  • ❌ You must avoid certain foods and medications for up to 2 days before sample collection.

  • ☀️ Collect your first sample upon waking.

  • 🚚 Ship samples back to the lab as soon as possible after collection.

Preparation & Timing

  • DO NOT collect while menstruating.

  • DO NOT collect while sick.

  • Avoid using sleep aids for 2 days before collection.

    • Example: melatonin, sleep medications, etc.

  • Avoid the following foods for 24 hours before and on the day of collection.

    • Bananas

    • Pineapples

    • Avocados

    • Nuts

    • Nut butter

    • Alcohol

    • Nicotine

    • Protein powder

    • Protein shakes

  • Avoid the following activities on the day of sample collection until you have collected sample 2.

    • Eating

    • Drinking anything but water

    • Taking medications

    • Taking supplements

    • Taking vitamins

Collection Instructions

You will collect four samples following the schedule below.

If you miss a collection, collect the sample at the designated time the following day.

  1. Write the following information on a collection card.

    1. Patient's name

    2. Date of collection

    3. Time of collection

  2. Open the cover on the collection card by folding it back, away from the filter paper.

    1. DO NOT touch the filter paper.

  3. Collect your urine by either:

    1. Urinating directly on the filter paper

    2. Collecting your urine in a clean cup

  4. If you collected your urine in a clean cup, dip the filter paper in the urine up to the top black line.

  5. Ensure the filter paper is fully saturated.

  6. Hang or tape the collection card in a secure place to dry.

    1. DO NOT let anything touch the filter paper.

  7. Let the card dry for at least 6 hours.

  8. Repeat steps 1-7 for all four collections, following the schedule above.

  9. Once the cards are completely dry, refold them.

    1. DO NOT leave dry cards out of the bag for more than 24 hours.

  10. Place the cards into the pink bag.

  11. Place the pink bag and the completed test requisition form back into the test kit box.

  12. Place the test kit box into the provided envelope.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • You must complete your requisition form and send it back with your samples.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.

📄 Instructions for Completing Your Requisition

Shipping

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Place the COMPLETELY DRY, folded sample cards into the pink bag and seal.

    • Place the pink bag into the test kit box.

    • Place the completed test requisition form into the test kit box.

    • Place the test kit box into the provided prepaid envelope.

    • Seal the envelope.

    • Attach the provided prepaid label to the envelope.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 3-5 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
