This panel consists of the Organic Acids and Micronutrients tests. The Organic Acids test is analyzed through a urine sample collected at home, while the Micronutrients test is analyzed through a blood sample collected by a licensed phlebotomist.

Key Details

  • Do not collect samples while menstruating.

  • You must avoid certain foods and supplements for 48 hours prior to urine collection.

  • You do not need to fast prior to your blood draw.

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Friday only.

  • Freeze the provided ice pack for at least 24 hours prior to your blood draw.

Preparation & Timing

  • Collect your urine sample before your blood draw.

Urine Collection

  • Do not collect samples while menstruating.

  • Avoid the following foods and supplements for 48 hours prior to collection.

    • Apples, apple juice, apple products

    • Grapes, grape juice, grape products

    • Pears, pear juice, pear products

    • Cranberries, cranberry juice, cranberry products

    • Mushrooms

    • Ribose supplements

  • Do not drink more than 8 oz water 1 hour prior to urine collection.

Blood Collection

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Friday only.

  • You do not need to fast prior to your blood draw.

  • Freeze the provided freezer pack for at least 24 hours prior to your blood draw.

    • Bring the ice pack with you to your blood draw.

Collection Instructions

Urine Collection

  1. Collect your first morning urine into the provided collection cup.

    1. It is preferred to collect your sample prior to eating or drinking.

    2. If you must drink something, drink less than 8 oz water.

  2. Open the specimen tube.

  3. Use the pipette to transfer urine from the collection cup to the specimen tube.

    1. Fill to the top of the tube label.

  4. Recap the specimen tube tightly by pushing down and twisting slightly.

  5. Discard the remaining urine and the collection cup.

  6. Write your name, date of birth, and the date and time of collection on the tube label.

  7. Place the specimen tube into the biohazard bag and seal it.


Blood Collection

  1. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Test kit

    2. Frozen ice pack

    3. Urine sample

    4. Completed test requisition form

  2. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your samples for you.

    1. Your test kit may come with more tubes than needed. Please have the phlebotomist check the collection instructions HERE and your test requisition form to determine which tubes to draw.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the included return label so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • The phlebotomist will ship your samples for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

    • Bring the test kit, urine sample, and ice pack with you to the blood draw so that all samples can be shipped together.

  • If the phlebotomist will not ship your urine sample,

    • Place the urine specimen tube into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the completed requisition form into the back pocket of the biohazard bag.

    • Place the biohazard bag into the provided return bubble mailer.

    • Return via FedEx as soon as possible, Monday - Friday only.

      • You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location.

      • You can also visit www.fedex.com or call 1-800-463-3339 to schedule a pickup of your samples.

      • DO NOT place your samples in a FedEx drop box.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-14 days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
