This panel consists of the Organic Acids and Micronutrients tests. The Organic Acids test is analyzed through a urine sample collected at home, while the Micronutrients test is analyzed through a blood sample collected by a licensed phlebotomist.

Key Details 

  • Avoid apples, grapes, pears, cranberries, and their juices and products for 48 hours before collection.
  • Avoid mushrooms and ribose supplements for 48 hours before collection.
  • Do not collect while menstruating.
  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist Monday - Friday only. 
    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found here

    • You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.
  • Freeze the provided ice pack for at least 24 hours prior to your blood draw.

  • Freeze the provided freezer pack for at least 24 hours prior to your blood draw. 
    • Bring the ice pack with you to your blood draw.

Collection Instructions

Urine Collection

  1. Prior to eating or drinking, collect the first morning urine in the provided urine collection cup. 
  2. Open the specimen tube.
  3. Use the pipette to transfer the urine from the cup to the specimen tube.
    1. Fill to the top of the tube label.
  4. Recap the specimen tube by pushing down and twisting slightly. 
  5. Write your name, date of birth, and the date and time of collection on the provided label. 
  6. Place the label on the tube.
  7. Discard any urine remaining in the collection cup, as well as the collection cup. 
  8. Place the specimen tube into the biohazard bag and seal completely.
  9. Place the completed requisition form into the back pocket of the biohazard bag.

Blood Collection

  1. Bring the test kit, frozen freezer pack, and completed test requisition form to your blood draw appointment.
  2. You may also bring your urine sample so that all samples can be shipped together. Check with your phlebotomist before your draw to confirm that he or she can mail both samples.
  3. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.
  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found here.
    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • You can return the urine sample on your own or bring it to your blood draw appointment (check with your phlebotomist beforehand). 
    • To mail by yourself, place the specimen tube into the biohazard bag. 
    • Place the completed requisition form into the back pocket of the biohazard bag.
    • Place the biohazard bag into the provided return bubble mailer.
    • Return via FedEx as soon as possible.
  • The phlebotomist will ship your blood sample for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-14 days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time. 
  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together. 
  • Your provider may choose to release your results to you. Rupa cannot release your results without provider authorization.
