The EndoSelect Salivary test measures a variety of salivary endocrine hormones to analyze hormone balance.

Key Details

  • All of your samples must be collected on the same day.

  • Your specific collection time(s) will depend on the markers being tested. See the collection schedule below.

  • You must avoid certain activities for 1 hour prior to each collection.

  • Keep your samples in the freezer until you ship them.

  • Ship your samples as soon as possible.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping your samples Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

Preparation & Timing

  • All of your samples must be collected on the same day.

  • Your specific collection time(s) will depend on the markers being tested. See the collection schedule below.

    • If you do not know which markers you are testing, reach out to your practitioner. You can also reach out to Rupa Health's support team at support@rupahealth.com.

  • If you are taking or have taken any of these medications in the past 12 months, consult your healthcare provider prior to taking this test. They may produce artificially high results.

    • Sublingual hormones

    • Transdermal hormones

  • If you have taken any of the following herbs, supplements, or drugs in the past 3 months, consult your healthcare provider prior to taking this test. They may affect results.

    • Ketoconazole

    • Cimetidine (Tagamet)

    • Anastrozole (Arimidex)

    • Letrozole (Femara)

    • Exemestane (Aromasin)

    • Chrysin

    • Apigenin

    • Tribulus terrestris

    • Clomiphene

    • Antiepileptics

    • Digoxin

    • Oral steroids (e.g. Prednisone)

    • Cortisone cream

    • Steroid-based nasal sprays, inhalers, or eye drops

  • Avoid the following activities for 1 hour prior to each collection.

    • Eating

    • Brushing your teeth

    • Flossing your teeth

    • Using mouthwash

    • Chewing gum

    • Using tobacco products

Collection Instructions

Collection Schedule

  • Collection 1: Upon waking (7 am - 9 am)

    • Estradiol

    • Estriol

    • Estrone

    • Testosterone

    • Progesterone

    • DHEA

    • Cortisol 7AM - 9AM

  • Collection 2: Before lunch (11 am - 1 pm)

    • Cortisol 11AM - 1PM

  • Collection 3: Afternoon (3 pm - 5 pm)

    • Cortisol 3PM - 5PM

  • Collection 4: Before bed (10 pm - 12 am)

    • Cortisol 10PM - 12AM

Collection Instructions

  1. Determine the correct collection time(s) for your test based on the markers your provider wants to test.

  2. At each collection time, open one saliva tube.

  3. Fill the tube with saliva to the FILL LINE (3 mL mark) within 5 minutes of starting your collection.

    1. Your sample should reach the FILL LINE (not including bubbles).

    2. Avoid getting mucus in your sample.

  4. If you have trouble producing enough saliva, try

    1. Pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth

    2. Yawning

    3. Thinking about your favorite food

  5. Place the cap tightly on the tube.

  6. Write the following information on the tube label.

    1. Full name - Please ensure that the name on the label matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

    2. Date of birth

    3. Date of collection

    4. Start collection time

    5. Stop collection time

  7. Freeze the tube immediately.

    1. Samples should be frozen for at least 2 hours prior to shipping.

    2. Samples must remain frozen until they are shipped.

  8. Repeat steps 2-7 for each collection.

  9. Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).

    1. Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to complete your test registration can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.

Shipping

  • Ship your samples as soon as possible.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Place each tube in the freezer immediately after collection.

    • Leave samples in the freezer for at least 2 hours.

    • When ready to ship, remove your sample tube(s) from the freezer.

    • Place the sample tube(s) into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the biohazard bag into the test kit box.

    • Place the test kit box into the provided FedEx Clinical Pak.

    • Place the completed activation card into the Clinical Pak.

  • Make a note of the return tracking number so you can track your sample back to the lab.

  • Ship your samples via FedEx.

    • You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location.

    • DO NOT place your samples in a drop box.

    • You can schedule a pickup by calling FedEx at 1-800-463-3339 or visiting www.fedex.com.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
