Collection Instructions

  1. Bring the entire test kit and completed test requisition form to your appointment.
  2. Your healthcare provider will collect your sample following the directions included in the test kit. 

Instructions for Your Healthcare Provider

  1. Use a sterile culturette collection swab to collect the sample.
  2. Rub the swab over the tonsils and posterior pharynx. 
    1. Avoid the tongue and uvula.
  3. Insert the swab into the culturette holder.
  4. Break the ampule at the bottom of the holder. 
    1. This will activate the culture-holding media.
  5. Label the culturette holder with the patient's information, date of collection, and the source of the specimen.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee to get the swab done by your provider.
  • A requisition form will be included in the test kit you receive. Please bring it with you to your appointment.
    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • Your healthcare will prepare and ship your sample for you using the packing materials included in the test kit.
  • Samples must be shipped Monday - Thursday only.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 1-6 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time. 
  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together. 
  • Your provider may choose to release your results to you. Rupa cannot release your results without provider authorization.
