These instructions are for Boston Heart Diagnostics’ urine tests - Albumin/Creatinine Ratio, F2-Isoprostane/Creatinine Ratio, and 11-dehydro TXB2/Creatinine Ratio. These tests measure a variety of important health markers through a urine sample.

Key Details 

  • You can do this test at any time. 
  • Limit fluid intake for a few hours prior to collecting your sample. 
  • If you are also doing a Boston Heart blood test, you can take your urine sample with you to your blood draw, so your Boston Heart samples can all be shipped together.
  • Your test requisition form will be emailed to you.

Preparation & Timing

  • You can do this test at any time.
  • Limit fluid intake for a few hours prior to collecting your sample. 
    • Your sample should not be dilute (clear).

Collection Instructions

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water. Dry your hands.
  2. Unscrew the lid of the specimen cup.
  3. Place the lid on the counter.
    1. Do not touch inside the cup or cup lid. 
  4. Clean yourself using the provided towelettes.
    1. Males: Clean in a single motion around the urinary opening. 
    2. Females: Wipe front to back along the center of the genital area. 
  5. Urinate a small amount in the toilet prior to urinating in the cup. 
  6. Collect your mid-stream urination in the provided collection cup.
  7. Pass any remaining urine into the toilet.
  8. Transfer your urine sample to the provided yellow tube. 
  9. Invert the tube 8-10 times to mix the sample. 
  10. Discard any remaining urine and the collection cup. 
  11. Write the patient's information and the date of collection on the specimen tube.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.
  • The Rupa Health team will email you a test requisition form that you will need to print, complete, and send in your test kit.
    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

  • If you also have a Boston Heart blood test, you can take your urine sample with you to your blood draw. The phlebotomist can ship the blood and urine samples together. 
  • If you do not have a Boston Heart blood test, follow the shipping instructions included in your test kit. 
    • Pack your urine specimen in the collection kit box.
    • Place the collection kit box in the provided shipping box/mailer. 
    • Take to the shipping carrier's nearest facility.
    • Do not place your sample in a package drop box. 
  • Make a note of your tracking number so that you can track your sample back to the lab.

  • Results should be released to your provider 10-14 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time. 
  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together. 
  • Your provider may choose to release your results to you. Rupa cannot release your results without provider authorization.
