Key Details
- This test requires a finger stick collection of 250 uL of blood. If blood makes you queasy, it may be beneficial to have someone help you with this collection.
- Hydrate prior to sample collection.
- DO NOT refrigerate or freeze your sample.
- Ship your sample on the SAME DAY YOU COLLECT.
- Ship your sample Monday - Thursday only.
- NOTE: Your sample must be CLEARLY labeled and arrive at the lab with a completed test requisition form for the lab to analyze it.
Preparation & Timing
- Hydrate the day prior to sample collection.
- Drink water 30 minutes before you draw your blood.
- Continue taking any nutritional supplements and medications unless advised differently by your healthcare provider.
Collection Instructions
- Write the following information on the test requisition form:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Date of sample collection
- Wash your hands in warm water for at least 30 seconds.
- Dry your hands with a clean towel.
- To increase circulation (and make collection easier), try the following activities:
- Rubbing your hands together
- Swinging your arms around several times
- Shaking your arms
- Doing a few jumping jacks
- Place the foam tube holder on a flat surface.
- Unscrew the cap from the collection vial.
- DO NOT touch the inside of the cap.
- DO NOT touch the inside of the tube.
- Set the cap to the side.
- Insert the vial into the tube holder.
- Choose the finger you will use for collection.
- You must use your middle or ring finger.
- It is recommended to use the middle or ring finger on your non-dominant hand.
- Wipe your chosen finger with the alcohol wipe.
- Let your finger dry completely.
- Use a twisting motion to remove the cap from one lancet.
- Press the lancet firmly against the side of your finger.
- Press the purple button until you hear a click.
- Remove the lancet from the finger.
- Hold your finger in a downward position over the tube.
- Gently massage from your palm to the puncture site.
- Collect blood drops in the vial.
- DO NOT scrape/scoop the blood off of your finger using the tube. Let the blood drop into the tube on its own.
- You must collect a minimum of 50 ul of blood.
- When you are finished, bandage your finger.
- Press and twist the cap onto the top of the specimen vial.
- You must ship your sample the SAME DAY as you collect it.
- DO NOT place your sample in the refrigerator or freezer.
- Ensure the test requisition form is completed with your personal and sample collection information.

- NOTE: Your sample will not be analyzed by the lab if it arrives at the lab without a completed test requisition form.
- To prepare your sample for shipping,
- Place the completed test requisition form into the outside pocket of the specimen bag.
- Place the closed collection vial into the specimen bag.
- Place the specimen bag into the test kit box.
- Place the test kit box into the provided FedEx return mailer.
- Seal the mailer.
Requisition & Payment
- Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.
- Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.
- Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.
- NOTE: Your sample will not be analyzed by the lab if your requisition form is not completed and sent with your sample.
Shipping
- Ship your sample on the SAME DAY YOU COLLECT IT.
- Ship your sample Monday - Thursday only.
- To prepare your sample for shipping,
- Place the completed test requisition form into the outside pocket of the specimen bag.
- Place the closed collection vial into the specimen bag.
- Place the specimen bag into the test kit box.
- Place the test kit box into the provided FedEx return mailer.
- Seal the mailer.
- Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track your sample back to the lab.
- Ship your sample via FedEx.
- DO NOT place your sample in a FedEx drop box.
- You can take your sample to the nearest FedEx location.
- You can also schedule a FedEx pickup by calling 1-800-463-3339.
- When the automated greeting begins, say, “Schedule a pickup.”
- When asked if your label has the word “Stamp” on it, say, “Yes.”
- Let them know you are shipping using a Billable Stamp.
- Your tracking number can be found on the Return Label.
Results
- Results should be released to your provider 5-10 business days after your sample is received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.
- Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
