The TruAge tests analyze your methylation markers to learn about aging and health. These instructions are for the BLOOD SPOT test. If you have the MICROTAINER EDTA test, see the instructions here.


Key Details

  • πŸ’§ Hydrate for 24 hours prior to sample collection.

Preparation & Timing

  • Hydrate for 24 hours prior to sample collection.

  • Continue taking your medications and supplements as normal.


Collection Instructions

  1. Complete the online test registration by scanning the QR code on your kit or visiting www.trudiagnostic.com/register.

  2. Take a picture of the barcode on your kit.

  3. Wash your hands in warm, soapy water.

  4. Dry your hands thoroughly with a clean towel.

  5. Do one or more of the following activities to increase circulation.

    1. Rub your hands together

    2. Swing your arms around several times

    3. Shake your arms

    4. Do a few jumping jacks

  6. Use the alcohol wipe to clean one finger for the collection.

    1. Using your middle or ring finger on your non-dominant hand is recommended.

  7. Let your finger dry.

  8. Twist the lancet top to remove the blue cap.

  9. Place the lancet against the side of your fingertip.

  10. Press down firmly to prick your finger with the lancet.

    1. You should hear a click.

  11. Wipe away the first drop of blood with the gauze pad.

  12. Starting at the center of the circle, place 10-15 drops of blood on the blood spot circle.

    1. DO NOT touch the card with your finger.

    2. DO NOT add additional blood drops once the blood is dry.

  13. If you cannot get enough blood with your first finger, use the second lancet to prick another finger (follow steps 6-12 again).

  14. Ensure all circles are filled.

  15. Ensure the blood drops are inside the circle.

  16. Ensure the blood has saturated through to the back of the card.

  17. Apply the bandage to your finger.

  18. Allow the blood spot card to air dry for at least 3 hours.

    1. Keep the card away from moisture and direct sunlight.

  19. Once the card is dry, tuck the card's cover into the front flap.

  20. Place the blood spot card into the biohazard bag.

    1. Ensure there is as little air as possible inside the bag.

  21. Seal the bag.

  22. If you cannot ship your sample the same day you collect it, place it in the refrigerator.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR TEST ONLINE. Your sample will not be analyzed until your test has been registered.


Shipping

  • Ship your sample the same day you collect it, if possible.

  • If you cannot ship your sample the day you collect it, place it in the refrigerator.

    • Your sample should remain in the refrigerator until it is shipped.

  • To prepare your sample for shipping,

    • Place the dry blood spot card into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the biohazard bag into the provided return envelope.

    • Seal the return envelope.

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return envelope so that you can track your sample back to the lab.

  • Ship your sample via USPS as soon as possible.


Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 2-3 weeks after your sample is received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
