The GI Effects® Comprehensive Stool Profile is an advanced stool test that provides immediate, actionable clinical information for the management of gastrointestinal health. Key Details To Know:

  • This is a stool test you can take entirely at home. 
  • 3-day version: The test can be taken at any time of day, for 3 consecutive days. 
  • 1-day version: The test can be taken any time of day, for 1 day.
  • You must discontinue 2-4 weeks before taking this test: antibiotics, antiparasitics, antifungals, probiotic supplements (acidophilus, etc.)
  • Need to start the stool collection on Fri - Tues (NOT Wed or Th  because you won’t be able to ship it in time, can only ship M-F)

Preparation

Discontinue 2-4 WEEKS before the test:

  • antibiotics, antiparasitics, antifungals, probiotic supplements (acidophilus, etc.), 

Discontinue 2 DAYS before the test:

  • aspirin and other NSAIDs (i.e. ibuprofen), rectal suppositories, enemas, activated charcoal, bismuth, betaine HCl, digestive enzymes, antacids, laxatives, mineral oil, castor oil, and/or bentonite clay

Planning & Timing: 

  • Can be taken at any time of day, for 3 consecutive days. 
  • Need to start the stool collection on Fri - Tues (NOT Wed or Th  because you won’t be able to ship it in time, can only ship M-F)

Requisition & Payment:

If you paid the full test price to Rupa up front:

  • You won't need to pay or do anything else.
  • Don't worry about filling out payment or insurance sections on the requisition.
  • Make sure "Clinician Bill" is checked off.

If you're going through insurance for the test:

  • You paid Rupa Health the Initial Insurance price for the test
  • Genova will bill your insurance company for the remainder of the test price
  • Genova will contact you if there is any remaining balance
  • Make sure to fill in your insurance information on the requisition form
    How to Know What Insurance Will Cover 

Shipping

  • Needs to ship 24 hours after final collection. 
  • Store each sample in Fridge when done collecting

 

Results

  • After the lab has received your sample, it takes on average 17 days to get results
  • Your provider will notify you when results are in and schedule a follow-up to review them together
