Key Details
Certain medications may affect test results (see list below).
Decrease your fluid intake 24 hours prior to collection.
Do not collect while menstruating.
You must fast overnight prior to sample collection.
Ship your samples within 24 hours of collection.

Preparation & Timing
If you have abnormal kidney function, your test results may be affected.
If you take any of the following medications, consult your healthcare provider prior to taking this test. These medications may affect test results.
Diuretics
Valproic acid
Acetaminophen
Berbarine HCl
Do not collect while menstruating.
Drink no more than 48 oz of fluid in the 24 hours prior to collection.
You must fast overnight prior to sample collection.
You may drink water during your fast.
Collection Instructions
PLEASE NOTE: Due to global supply-chain issues the Blue-top Amber Tube will be temporarily replaced with a Black-top Amber Tube. Either tube will be accepted for this test.
Write the following information on the tube label.
Your first and last name
The time of collection
The date of collection
Affix the label to the tube.
Empty your bladder before going to bed at night.
DO NOT collect this urine.
If you wake to urinate during the night (within 6 hours of waking), collect this urine in the provided collection container.
Place the collection cup in the refrigerator.
Collect your first morning urine in the provided collection container.
You will use the same collection container you used at night.
Open the tube.
DO NOT touch or discard any preservative in the tube.
Pipette urine into the sample tube.
Fill until the tube is nearly full.
Screw the vial's top on tightly.
Shake the tube.
Dispose of any remaining urine.
Place the tube and ice pack in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
The tube and ice pack should remain in the freezer until you are ready to ship your samples.
NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.
Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).
Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.
Requisition & Payment
Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.
Shipping
Ship your samples within 24 hours of collection.

To prepare your samples for shipping,
Remove the urine sample from the freezer.
Place the frozen urine sample into the biohazard bag.
Place the frozen ice pack and the absorbent pad into the biohazard bag.
Place the completed activation card into the side pocket of the biohazard bag.
Place the biohazard bag into the foam insulator box.
Place the foam insulator box into the cardboard kit box.
Place the cardboard kit box into the provided return mailer.
Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your sample back to the lab.
Ship your samples via FedEx.
You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location.
Do NOT place your samples in a drop box.

Results
Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.
Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
