The TRIAD® Blood Spot Profile combines the IgG4 Food Antibodies Profile, 20 Amino Acids Profile, and the Organix® Comprehensive Profile to provide a comprehensive nutritional assessment.

Key Details

  • You will collect 3 samples - 2 blood spot samples and 1 urine sample.

  • You need to fast prior to collecting some of your samples.

  • DO NOT collect samples while menstruating.

  • Ship your sample within 48 hours of collection.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

Preparation & Timing

  • You will collect 3 samples - 2 blood spot samples and 1 urine sample.

    • You can collect these samples on the same day or different day.

    • Keep in mind that samples should be shipped within 48 hours of collection.

  • You do not need to discontinue any medications or nutritional supplements prior to testing.

  • DO NOT collect samples while menstruating.

Blood Spot Sample 1 - IgG4 Antibodies

  • You do not need to fast prior to collecting this sample.

Urine Sample - Organix® Profile

  • Decrease fluid intake for 24 hours prior to collection.

    • It is recommended that adults limit fluids to 24 oz in the 24 hours prior to collection.

  • Drink no more than 8 oz of fluids after 8:00 pm the evening prior to collection.

Blood Spot Sample 2 - Amino Acids Profile

  • You must fast for at least 8 hours prior to sample collection.

    • You may drink water during the fast.

Collection Instructions


Blood Spot Collection

  1. Using a permanent marker, write the following information on the blood spot collection card.

    1. Your first and last name

    2. Your date of birth

    3. The date of collection

  2. Wash your hands with warm water for a few minutes.

  3. Dry your hands with a clean towel.

  4. To improve circulation (which will make your collection easier!):

    1. Hold your hand lower than heart level and gently massage the entire length of the middle finger on your non-dominant hand for 30 seconds.

    2. Hang your arm down and gently shake your fingers for a few seconds.

  5. Clean the tip of your middle finger (on your non-dominant hand) with the included alcohol pad.

  6. Remove the cap from the lancet.

  7. Press the red tip of the lancet firmly against the side of your sterilized finger.

    1. Press until you hear the click.

  8. Gently massage the entire length of your pricked finger to form blood drops.

  9. Touch the tip of the drop to a circle on the collection card.

    1. DO NOT smear the blood drop.

    2. DO NOT touch the card with your finger.

  10. Fill ALL circles FULLY.

    1. Blood should saturate through both sides of the card.

  11. If you cannot get sufficient blood, repeat steps 2-10 with the second lancet and another finger.

  12. Use the absorbent pad to dry your finger.

  13. Bandage your finger.

  14. Allow the collection card to dry for at least 24 hours.

  15. Once the card is dry, place it in the resealable plastic bag.

    1. Ensure the desiccant/moisture-absorbent pack is in the bag.


Urine Collection

  1. Using a permanent marker, write the following information on the clear-cap plastic vial.

    1. Your first and last name

    2. Your date of birth

    3. The date of collection

  2. Empty your bladder before going to bed.

    1. DO NOT collect this urine.

  3. If you wake to urinate during the night, collect this urine in a clean container (not provided).

  4. Collect your first morning urine in a clean collection container (not provided).

    1. You can use the same container you used at night.

  5. If you have two containers of urine, mix the urine by gently pouring urine back and forth several times between the two containers.

  6. Pipette urine into the clear-cap plastic vial.

    1. Urine should reach the 12 mL mark.

    2. DO NOT overfill.

    3. If you have two collection containers, you can pipette urine from just one container.

  7. Screw the vial's top on tightly.

  8. Dispose of any remaining urine.

  9. Place the clear-cap vial and ice pack in the freezer.

    1. The vial and ice pack should remain in the freezer until you are ready to ship your samples.

  10. Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • Ship your samples within 48 hours of collection.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Blood Spot Samples

      • Allow the blood spot collection cards to FULLY DRY for at least 24 hours.

      • For each collection card,

        • Fold the insert page in half to cover the DRY collection card.

        • Place the collection card in the resealable plastic bag with the desiccant pack.

        • The two blood spot cards should be in SEPARATE bags.

    • Urine Sample

      • Remove the urine sample from the freezer.

      • Place the frozen urine sample into the biohazard bag.

      • Place the frozen ice pack and the absorbent pad into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the completed activation card into the side pocket of the urine biohazard bag.

    • Place all three sample bags into the provided return envelope.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your sample back to the lab.

  • Ship your samples via FedEx.

    • You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location.

    • DO NOT place your samples in a drop box.

    • You can also schedule a FedEx pickup by calling 1-800-463-3339 or visiting their website www.fedex.com.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.

  • Your provider may choose to release your results to you. Rupa cannot release your results without provider authorization.
