The CV Health™ test measures various lipid biomarkers to assess a patient's risk of cardiovascular disease.

Key Details

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist Monday - Thursday only.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

    • You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Avoid alcohol the day prior to collection.

  • Avoid exercise for 12 hours prior to collection.

  • Fast overnight (at least 12 hours) prior to sample collection.

  • The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

  • Do not register your test online with Genova.

Preparation & Timing

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist Monday - Thursday only.

  • If you take aspirin or cholesterol-lowering drugs, consult your healthcare practitioner prior to sample collection.

  • If you are taking any of the following medications, your homocysteine results may be inaccurate.

    • S-adenosyl-methionine

    • Methotrexate

    • Carbamazepine

    • Phenytoin

    • Nitrous oxide

    • Anti-convulsants

    • 6-azauridine triacetates

  • The day prior to your blood draw

    • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours.

    • Avoid exercise for at least 12 hours.

    • Fast overnight for at least 12 hours.

    • Freeze the provided freezer brick for at least 8 hours prior to your blood draw appointment.

    • Hydrate.

Collection Instructions

  1. Freeze the provided freezer brick for at least 8 hours prior to your blood draw.

  2. Bring the entire test kit, frozen freezer brick, and completed test requisition form with you to your blood draw appointment.

  3. Your blood draw can only be done and shipped Monday - Thursday.

  4. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE (insurance pay) and HERE (cash pay).

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

    • Do not register your test online with Genova.

Shipping

  • The phlebotomist will ship your sample for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.

  • Your provider may choose to release your results to you. Rupa cannot release your results without provider authorization.
