The Toxic Element Clearance Profile measures urinary excretion of 20 potentially harmful toxic metals. These instructions are for the timed collection.

Key Details

  • Do not collect while menstruating.

  • Avoid certain supplements and products for 48 hours prior to sample collection.

  • Avoid seafood for 48 hours prior to sample collection.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

Preparation & Timing

  • Do not collect while menstruating.

  • Avoid supplements containing the following products for 48 hours prior to sample collection.

    • Creatinine

    • Vitamin C

    • Any mineral elements measured on this test

    • Do not discontinue any medications or supplements prior to consulting with your healthcare practitioner.

  • Avoid any substance that may influence urinary element excretion of elements for 48 hours prior to sample collection.

  • Avoid seafood for 48 hours prior to sample collection.

Collection Instructions

  1. You will collect your first morning urination. If you wake to urinate in the night within 6 hours of your standard waking time,

    1. Collect your urine in a clean container.

  2. Collect your first morning urine in a clean container.

    1. You must provide this container yourself.

  3. If you collected urine during the night, combine the urine from both collections together into one cup.

  4. Stir the urine with the pipette.

  5. Use the pipette to transfer urine to fill both sample tubes.

  6. Cap the tubes.

  7. Discard any remaining urine and all of the collection materials.

  8. Write the following information on the labels.

    1. Your name - Please ensure that the name on the label matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

    2. Your gender

    3. The date of collection

  9. Place a label on each specimen collection tube.

  10. Place the tubes in the biohazard bag.

  11. Refrigerate the samples until you are ready to ship.

  12. Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).

    1. Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to complete your test registration can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.

Shipping

  • Ship samples as soon as possible after collection.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • Samples should be refrigerated until shipped.

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Place specimen tubes into the biohazard bag with the absorbent pad.

    • Place the completed activation card into the side pocket of the biohazard bag.

    • Place the biohazard bag into the test kit box.

    • Place the test kit box into the provided return mailer.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • Ship your samples via FedEx.

    • You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location.

    • DO NOT place your samples in a drop box.

    • You can also schedule a FedEx pickup by calling 1-800-463-3339 or visiting their website www.fedex.com.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
