The Amino Acids test measures the levels of a variety of amino acids that play important roles in your health.

Key Details

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Thursday only.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

    • You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Hydrate for 24-48 hours prior to your blood draw.

  • You must avoid certain foods and supplements for 48 hours prior to your blood draw.

  • You must fast overnight prior to your blood draw.

  • The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your samples for you.

  • DO NOT register your kit online.

Preparation & Timing

  • If your practitioner has ordered Mosaic Diagnostics tests with multiple sample types, consult THIS DOCUMENT to determine the order in which you should collect your samples.

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Thursday only.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

  • Avoid the following foods and supplements for 48 hours prior to your blood draw.

    • Amino acid supplements

    • Amino acid metabolite supplements (such as GABA, 5-HTP, and creatine)

    • Artificial sweeteners containing aspartame (such as NutraSweet® and Equal®)

  • Hydrate for 24-48 hours prior to your blood draw.

  • You must fast overnight (at least 8 hours) prior to your blood draw.

Collection Instructions

  1. Complete the test requisition form following the directions HERE.

    1. DO NOT register your kit online.

  2. Place the gel pack in the freezer overnight prior to your blood draw.

  3. Find the barcode sample collection stickers sheet.

  4. Write the following information on the barcode stickers.

    1. Patient's full name

      1. Please make sure this matches the name on the test order EXACTLY. Mismatched names may result in a sample recollection.

    2. Date of collection

  5. Place a sticker on each sample tube included in your kit.

  6. Repack your kit to bring with you to your blood draw.

  7. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Test kit

    2. Completed test requisition form

    3. Frozen gel pack

  8. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your samples for you.

    2. Your test may come with additional vials. Please have the phlebotomist check the collection instructions and requisition form to determine the correct number of vials to draw.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.

    • DO NOT register your kit online.

Shipping

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • The phlebotomist will ship your samples for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 2-3 weeks after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
