These instructions are for the Metals - Toxic Elements and Metals - Toxic + Nutrient Elements tests. These tests assess the retention of toxic metals in the body and the status of essential nutrient elements. These instructions are for a TIMED collection. Your practitioner will tell you for how long to collect.


Key Details

  • 🩸 DO NOT collect your sample while menstruating.

  • ❌ You DO NOT need to register your kit online or complete a requisition form.


Preparation & Timing

  • Save the cardboard test kit box - you will use this to ship back your sample.

  • If your practitioner has ordered Mosaic Diagnostics tests with multiple sample types, consult THIS DOCUMENT to determine the order in which you should collect your samples.

  • DO NOT collect your sample while menstruating.

  • Avoid the following foods for 1 week before sample collection.

    • Fish

    • Shellfish

  • DO NOT collect your sample for at least 96 hours following an MRI with gadolinium-based contrast media.


Collection Instructions

  1. Collect your second morning urine in the provided collection cup.

  2. Pour the urine into the orange collection container.

  3. Place the orange collection container into the refrigerator.

  4. Collect all urine during the collection period defined by your practitioner.

    1. Example: If your practitioner told you to collect for 6 hours, start with your second urination of the day and collect all of your urine over the next 6 hours.

    2. Refrigerate the orange collection container in between collections.

  5. After your final collection, place the orange collection container on a flat surface.

  6. Look at the total volume of urine collected.

  7. Write the total volume on the sticker on the urine collection cup lid.

    1. Failure to record the total volume may affect your results.

  8. Make sure the collection container is closed.

  9. Shake the orange collection container to mix the urine.

  10. Pour 50 mL of urine into the yellow-top collection cup.

    1. DO NOT overfill.

  11. Screw the collection cup lid on tightly.

  12. Write the following information on the barcode stickers.

    1. Your full name

    2. The date you finished sample collection

  13. Check the box "Check if Frozen" on the barcode stickers.

  14. Place a barcode sticker on the collection cup.

  15. Place the following items into the freezer.

    1. Collection cup

    2. Provided gel pack (lay it flat!)

  16. The sample and gel pack should remain in the freezer for a minimum of 4 hours prior to shipping.

    1. Keep them in the freezer until ready to ship.

    2. Your frozen sample is only viable for 30 days after collection.

  17. Discard any remaining urine and the orange collection container.

  18. When you are ready to ship your sample, place the collection cup into the biohazard zip-lock bag along with the absorbent sheet.

  19. Place the frozen gel pack and the sample into the silver thermo bag.

  20. Place the silver thermo bag into the cardboard test kit box.

    1. If the sample is not in the box, it will be rejected by UPS.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • You DO NOT need to register your kit online or complete a requisition form.


Shipping

  • Your sample must be frozen for a minimum of 4 hours before shipping.

  • To prepare your sample for shipping,

    • Place the collection cup into the biohazard zip-lock bag.

      • Ensure the absorbent sheet is in the bag as well.

    • Place the frozen gel pack into the silver thermo bag.

    • Place the biohazard zip-lock bag into the silver thermo bag.

    • Place the silver thermo bag into the test kit box.

    • Seal the test kit box.

    • Place the test kit box into the provided UPS Laboratory Pak.

    • Seal the Laboratory Pak.

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • Ship via UPS, Monday - Thursday ONLY.

    • You can take your sample to the nearest UPS location.

    • DO NOT place your sample in a UPS drop box.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 2-3 weeks after your sample is received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
