The Metals Whole Blood Test determines deficiencies, excesses, and imbalances of essential elements, as well as recent or ongoing exposure to specific toxic elements.

Key Details

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Thursday only.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

    • You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Hydrate for 24-48 hours prior to your blood draw.

  • You must fast overnight prior to your blood draw.

  • The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your samples for you.

  • You DO NOT need to register your kit online or complete a requisition form.

Preparation & Timing

  • If your practitioner has ordered Mosaic Diagnostics tests with multiple sample types, consult THIS DOCUMENT to determine the order in which you should collect your samples.

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Thursday only.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

  • Avoid taking any of the following medications for 72 hours prior to sample collection.

    • Dietary supplements containing minerals

    • Non-essential medications

    • DO NOT discontinue prescription medications without consulting your healthcare provider.

  • Hydrate for 24-48 hours prior to your blood draw.

  • You must FAST overnight for 12 hours prior to your blood draw.

    • You can drink water during your fast.

Collection Instructions

  1. Find the barcode sample collection stickers sheet.

  2. Write the following information on the barcode stickers.

    1. Patient's full name

      1. Please make sure this matches the name on the test order EXACTLY. Mismatched names may result in a sample recollection.

    2. Date of collection

  3. Place a sticker on each sample tube included in your kit.

  4. Repack your kit to bring with you to your blood draw.

  5. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Test kit

  6. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your samples for you.

    1. Your test may come with additional vials. Please have the phlebotomist check the collection instructions to determine the correct number of vials to draw.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • You DO NOT need to register your kit online or complete a requisition form.

Shipping

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • The phlebotomist will ship your samples for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 2-3 weeks after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
