These instructions are for Boston Heart Diagnostics’ urine tests - Albumin/Creatinine Ratio, F2-Isoprostane/Creatinine Ratio, and 11-dehydro TXB2/Creatinine Ratio. These tests measure a variety of important health markers through a urine sample.


Key Details

  • 🗓️ You can do this test at any time.

  • 💧 Limit fluid intake for a few hours before collecting your sample.

  • 🩸 If your practitioner also ordered a Boston Heart blood test, collect your urine sample the same day as your blood draw. Take your urine sample with you to your blood draw, so your Boston Heart samples can all be shipped together.

  • 🧪 These tests MUST be run through a urine sample.

  • 📄 The Rupa Health team will email you your test requisition form. You must PRINT, COMPLETE, and SEND BACK the requisition form with your kit.


Preparation & Timing

  • You can do this test at any time.

    • If your practitioner also ordered a Boston Heart blood test, collect your urine sample the same day as your blood draw.

  • Freeze the ice packs (if provided) for 24 hours before collecting your sample.

  • Limit fluid intake for a few hours before collecting your sample.

    • Your sample should not be dilute (clear).


Collection Instructions

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water. Dry your hands.

  2. Unscrew the lid of the specimen cup.

  3. Place the lid on the counter.

    1. DO NOT touch inside the cup or cup lid.

  4. Clean yourself using the provided towelettes.

    1. Males: Clean in a single motion around the urinary opening.

    2. Females: Wipe front to back along the center of the genital area.

  5. Urinate a small amount in the toilet before urinating in the cup.

  6. Collect your mid-stream urination in the provided collection cup.

  7. Pass any remaining urine into the toilet.

  8. Transfer your urine sample to the provided yellow tube.

  9. Invert the tube 8-10 times to mix the sample.

  10. Discard any remaining urine and the collection cup.

  11. Write the following information on the specimen tube.

    1. Patient's full name

    2. Patient's date of birth

  12. Place the specimen tube into the refrigerator.

  13. Your sample is only stable for a short period. If your sample will not make it to the lab in the stability period, please freeze the specimen tube.

    • Albumin/Creatinine Ratio (Urine): 6 days on ice/refrigerated

    • F2-Isoprostane/Creatinine: 7 days on ice/refrigerated

    • 11-dehydro TXB2/Creat Ratio: 1 day on ice/refrigerated

  14. PRINT and COMPLETE your test requisition form.

    1. This form was emailed to you from the Rupa Health team.

    2. You can also find it in your Rupa Health patient portal.

  15. If your practitioner also ordered a Boston Heart blood test,

    1. Take your urine sample with you to your blood draw.

  16. If you do not have a Boston Heart blood test,

    1. Follow the shipping instructions below.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

Please print out this form, complete it, and send it back with your samples.

  • You must complete your requisition form and send it back with your samples.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.


Shipping

  • Your sample is only stable for a short period. Please freeze your sample and ship it on dry ice if it will not make it back to the lab in the stability period.

    • Albumin/Creatinine Ratio (Urine): 6 days on ice/refrigerated

    • F2-Isoprostane/Creatinine: 7 days on ice/refrigerated

    • 11-dehydro TXB2/Creat Ratio: 1 day on ice/refrigerated

  • If you also have a Boston Heart blood test,

    • Take your urine sample with you to your blood draw.

    • The phlebotomist should ship the blood and urine samples together.

  • If you do not have a Boston Heart blood test,

    • Place the specimen tube into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the biohazard bag into the collection kit box.

    • If you refrigerated your sample,

      • Place the frozen ice pack into the collection kit box.

    • If you froze your sample,

      • It is recommended to ship your sample on dry ice.

    • Place the collection kit box into the provided shipping mailer/box.

    • Seal the shipping mailer/box.

    • Place the provided FedEx return label on the box.

    • Ship your sample via FedEx.

      • Take your sample to the nearest FedEx shipping location.

      • DO NOT place your sample in a FedEx drop box.

  • Make a note of your tracking number so that you can track your sample back to the lab.


Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 10-14 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
