The NutriStat Profiles assess your nutritional status to identify any deficiencies or imbalances in your diet. These instructions are for the NutriStat Basic Profile and the NutriStat Complete Profile.


Key Details

  • ❌ You must avoid certain foods and supplements before sample collection.

Preparation & Timing

  • You must collect and ship your sample on Tuesday or Wednesday ONLY.

    • Collect your urine and blood samples on the same day.

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist.

  • DO NOT collect your samples while you are menstruating.

  • DO NOT take this test if you

    • Have a blood clotting disorder

    • Are taking blood thinning medications

  • If you take any of the following medications, please consult your healthcare provider before completing this test, as they may alter test results.

    • Immunosuppressive drugs

    • Immune-modulating drugs

    • Topical cortisone suspensions and creams

4 Days Before Sample Collection

  • Stop taking all supplements, including protein powders.

24 Hours Before Sample Collection

  • Avoid eating and drinking products containing aspartame or MSG.

  • Avoid overconsuming any particular food.

10 Hours Before Sample Collection

  • Fast

  • Limit fluid intake


Collection Instructions

Urine Collection

  1. Write the following information on the two urine sample tubes.

    1. Patient's full name

    2. Patient's date of birth

    3. Date of collection

    4. Time of collection

  2. You will collect your first morning urine.

    1. Collect before eating or drinking.

    2. It must be at least 6 hours from your last urination.

  3. Start urinating - DO NOT collect the first portion of urine.

  4. Start collecting urine mid-stream into the collection cup.

  5. Fill the collection cup 50%-75% full.

  6. Empty the remainder of your bladder into the toilet.

  7. Remove the cap from one of the urine sample tubes.

    1. DO NOT touch or discard the preservative in the tube.

  8. Use the provided pipette to transfer urine from the collection cup into the sample tube.

    1. Squeeze the top piece of the pipette to remove all the air.

    2. Place the pipette into the urine in the collection cup.

    3. Release the pressure on the top of the pipette. This will pull urine into the pipette.

    4. Move the pipette into the transfer tube.

    5. Squeeze the top of the pipette to release the urine into the tube.

  9. Fill the urine sample tube until the FILL LINE.

  10. Place the cap back on the urine sample tube.

  11. Twist TIGHTLY to seal the tube.

  12. Remove the cap from the second urine sample tube.

    1. DO NOT touch or discard the preservative in the tube.

  13. Use the provided pipette to transfer urine from the collection cup into the sample tube.

  14. Fill the urine sample tube until the FILL LINE.

  15. Place the cap back on the urine sample tube.

  16. Twist TIGHTLY to seal the tube.

  17. Place the two urine sample tubes into the biohazard bag with the absorbent pad.

  18. Seal the biohazard bag.

  19. Complete the test requisition form.

    1. Please ensure that the information on the sample tubes matches the information on your requisition form EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

  20. Place the biohazard bag and completed test requisition form back into the test kit box. You will bring this with you to your blood draw.

Blood Collection

  1. Read this article to prepare for your blood draw.

  2. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Test kit

    2. Urine sample

    3. Completed test requisition form

  3. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

    1. Please ensure that the information on the sample tubes matches the information on your requisition form EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • You must complete your requisition form and send it back with your samples.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.


Shipping

  • Samples must be collected and shipped on the same day, TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY ONLY.

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return envelope so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • The phlebotomist will ship your sample for you using the materials provided in the test kit.


Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 5-10 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
