The NeuroGenomic™ Profile evaluates genetic variations that modulate methylation, glutathione conjugation, oxidative protection, and the potential to evaluate vascular oxidation.

Key Details

  • Do not use mouthwash the night before sample collection.

  • Collect your samples immediately upon waking.

  • Do not eat, drink anything but water, or practice oral hygiene prior to collecting your sample.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping your samples Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

Preparation & Timing.

  • DO NOT use mouthwash the night before sample collection.

  • You must collect your samples immediately upon waking.

  • Avoid the following activities prior to collecting your samples.

    • Eating

    • Drinking anything but water

    • Brushing your teeth

    • Flossing your teeth

    • Using mouthwash

    • Chewing gum

    • Using tobacco

    • Using any coffee products

Collection Instructions

  1. Collect your samples immediately upon waking, prior to eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth.

  2. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water.

  3. Dry your hands with a clean towel.

  4. Gently peel open the package labeled "Sterile Cotton Tipped Applicator."

    1. Keep the package intact.

    2. Only peel it open enough to remove the applicator.

  5. Remove ONE cotton swab applicator.

    1. DO NOT touch the cotton tip.

  6. Open your mouth widely.

  7. Insert the cotton tip of the swab applicator.

  8. Aggressively scrape the inside of your cheek for at least 30 seconds.

    1. Use a back and forth, up and down motion.

    2. Rotate the applicator several times.

    3. Swab between the cheek and gums.

    4. Avoid excessive saliva.

  9. Allow the swab to air dry for 15-20 minutes.

    1. DO NOT let the cotton tip touch any surface or your hands.

  10. Repeat steps 5-9 with the second swab.

  11. Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).

  12. Once the swabs have dried, place them back into the applicator package, swab first.

  13. Write the following information on the label and place it on the envelope.

    1. Full name

    2. Date of birth

  14. Insert the swab applicator package into the provided envelope and seal.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Place the DRY swabs back into the applicator package, swab end first.

    • Write the patient's name and birthdate on the provided label.

    • Place the label on the envelope.

    • Place the swab applicator package into the envelope.

    • Place the completed activation card into the envelope.

    • Place the provided shipping label on the envelope.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • Ship your samples via FedEx.

    • You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location. Do NOT place them in a drop box.

    • You can also schedule a FedEx pickup by calling 1-800-GoFedEx.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.

  • Your provider may choose to release your results to you. Rupa cannot release your results without provider authorization.
