The Oxidative Stress Analysis 2.0 evaluates two oxidative tissue damage markers.

Key Details

  • If you have a kidney disorder, you should not take this test.

  • Certain medications may affect test results (see list below).

  • Decrease your fluid intake 24 hours prior to collection.

  • Do not collect while menstruating.

  • Ship your samples within 24 hours of collection.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

Preparation & Timing

  • If you have a kidney disorder, you should not take this test.

  • If you have abnormal kidney function, your test results may be affected.

  • If you take any of the following medications, consult your healthcare provider prior to taking this test. These medications may affect test results.

    • Diuretics

    • Cephalosporins (e.g. Cefoxitin)

    • Cimetidine (e.g. Tagamet)

    • Fibrates (e.g. Ciprofibrate)

    • Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (e.g. Bactrim)

  • Decrease your fluid intake 24 hours prior to collection.

    • Adults should drink no more than 0.5 oz fluids/pound of body weight on the day prior to sample collection.

      • Example: A 130-lb person should drink no more than 65 oz of fluids the day prior to sample collection.

  • Do not collect while menstruating.

Collection Instructions

  1. Write the following information on the tube label.

    1. Your first and last name - Please ensure that the name on the label matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

    2. Your date of birth

    3. The date of collection

  2. Affix the label to the tube.

  3. Empty your bladder before going to bed at night.

    1. DO NOT collect this urine.

  4. If you wake to urinate during the night, collect this urine in a clean container (not provided).

  5. Collect your first morning urine in a clean collection container (not provided).

    1. You can use the same container you used at night.

  6. If you have two containers of urine, mix the urine by gently pouring urine back and forth several times between the two containers.

  7. Open the tube.

    1. DO NOT touch or discard any preservative in the tube.

  8. Pipette urine into the sample tube.

    1. Fill until the tube is nearly full.

    2. If you have two collection containers, you can pipette urine from just one container.

  9. Screw the vial's top on tightly.

  10. Shake the tube.

  11. Dispose of any remaining urine.

  12. Place the tube and ice pack in the freezer for at least 2 hours.

    1. The vial and ice pack should remain in the freezer until you are ready to ship your samples.

    2. NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.

  13. Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).

    1. Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to complete your test registration can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.

Shipping

  • Ship your samples within 24 hours of collection.

  • Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Remove the urine sample from the freezer.

    • Place the frozen urine sample into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the frozen ice pack and the absorbent pad into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the completed activation card into the side pocket of the biohazard bag.

    • Place the biohazard bag into the foam insulator box.

    • Place the foam insulator box into the cardboard kit box.

    • Place the cardboard kit box into the provided return mailer.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your sample back to the lab.

  • Ship your samples via FedEx.

    • You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location.

    • DO NOT place your samples in a drop box.

    • You can also schedule a FedEx pickup by calling 1-800-463-3339 or visiting their website www.fedex.com.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
