The various salivary hormones tests measure hormone levels at four points throughout the day.
Key Details
If you are a menstruating female, you must collect your samples on specific days of your cycle.
If you are taking supplemental hormones, you must time your collections properly after your last hormone dosage.
You must avoid certain foods and drinks during the collection period.
You must collect all four of your samples on the same day.
Samples should be shipped Monday - Friday only.
Preparation & Timing
You must collect ALL FOUR of your samples on the SAME DAY.
If you are a male or non-menstruating female, you can test any day of the month.
If you are a menstruating female, you must collect on specific days of your cycle.
Regular periods: Collect samples on day 19, 20, or 21 of your cycle (where day 1 is the first day of your period).
Irregular periods: Collect samples when you are not bleeding. Collect closest to days 19, 20, and 21 of your cycle.
If you are taking supplemental hormones (including melatonin, hydrocortisone, cortisol, or creams containing placental derivatives), collect your samples according to the following schedule.
Daily patches
Collect samples 12-24 hours after applying the patch.
Weekly/biweekly patches
Collect samples at the midpoint of applying patches.
Gels, sprays, pills, or creams
Collect samples 12-24 hours after your last dosage.
Injections
Collect samples at the midpoint between injections.
Sublingual hormones/troches
Collect samples 36 hours after your last dosage.
Avoid the following foods/drinks on the collection day.
Caffeinated beverages
Any food containing caffeine
Alcoholic beverages
Avoid the following activities for at least 2 hours prior to each sample collection.

Collection Instructions
Rinse your mouth with water 15 minutes prior to collection.
Wash your hands and dry them with a clean towel.
Write the following information on a label.
Full name
Date of birth
Collection Date
Collection Time
Place the label on the tube.
Collect saliva in the tube.
DO NOT force the saliva - let it flow into the tube.
DO NOT get any phlegm into the tube.
TIP: If you cannot produce saliva, try the following activities to increase saliva flow.
Smell food
Yawn
TIP: If you make a mistake, rinse the tube with warm water ONLY, let it air dry, and collect again.
Fill the tube until you have reached at least the maximum line.
Tightly seal the cap back onto the tube.
Place the tube into the refrigerator until you are ready to ship.
DO NOT freeze tubes.
Repeat steps 1-10 for each of the four collections.
Place the tubes into the bag in which they came.
Place the completed requisition form and specimen bag into the test kit box and seal.
Requisition & Payment
Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.
A requisition form will be included in your test kit. Fill in your personal information and ship back with the samples.
Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.
Shipping
Ship samples Monday - Friday only.
To prepare your samples for shipping,
Place the four sample tubes into the specimen bag.
Place the specimen bag into the test kit box.
Place the completed test requisition form into the test kit box.
Close the test kit box.
Place the test kit box into the provided, prepaid UPS bag.
Place the provided label onto the UPS bag.
Seal the UPS bag.
Make a note of the tracking number found on the label so that you can track your samples back to the lab.
Drop off the samples at any UPS location.
Results
Results should be released to your provider 1-6 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.
Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
