These instructions are for all of US BioTek's finger stick microtainer tests, including food antibody assessments and inhalant antibody assessments.
Key Details
π½οΈ No special diet is required.
π©Έ DO NOT take this test if you are taking a blood thinner or have a blood clotting disorder.
π Consult your healthcare provider if you are taking immunosuppressive drugs or immune-modulating drugs.
π Ship your sample as soon as possible after collection. Your sample must be received by the lab within 7 days of sample collection.
Preparation & Timing
No special diet is required.
Maintain your usual dietary habits.
Eat a variety of foods (when possible) for a few weeks before the sample collection.
DO NOT take this test if you:
Are taking blood-thinning medications
Have a blood-clotting disorder
If you take any of the following medications, please consult your healthcare provider before completing this test, as they may alter test results.
Immunosuppressive drugs
Immune-modulating drugs
Topical cortisone suspensions and creams
Hydrate for a few hours before sample collection.
Collection Instructions
Write the following information on the sample tube.
Patient's full name
Patient's date of birth
Date of collection
Wash your hands under warm water for 30-60 seconds.
Dry your hands with a clean towel.
Twist off the blue tab to break the seal of the lancet.
DO NOT touch the white tip.
Clean the tip of the middle or ring finger on your non-dominant hand with the provided alcohol pad.
Shake your arms around to get your blood flowing.
Place the tip of the lancet against the side of your fingertip.
Press down firmly until you hear a click.
Gently press the pricked finger from below the puncture site to allow a large drop of blood to form.
AVOID strong repetitive pressure on the pricked finger. This may cause contamination of the sample.
Wipe away the first drop of blood with the gauze.
Hold your finger in a downward position over the tube.
Gently massage from your palm to the puncture site.
AVOID strong repetitive pressure on the pricked finger. This may cause contamination of the sample.
Collect blood drops in the tube.
DO NOT scrape/scoop the blood off of your finger using the tube. Let the blood drop into the tube on its own.
Fill the sample tube to the 600 mcl line.
When you are finished, bandage your finger.
Press and twist the cap onto the top of the sample tube.
Gently invert the sample tube 10 times.
Place the sample tube into the small plastic bag with the absorbent pad.
Place the small plastic bag into the biohazard bag.
Complete the test requisition form.
Please ensure that the information on the sample tube matches the information on your requisition form EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your sample.
Place the biohazard bag into the test kit box.
Place the completed test requisition form into the test kit box.
Place the test kit box into the provided shipping envelope.
Requisition & Payment
Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.
You must complete your requisition form and send it back with your samples.
Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.
Shipping
Ship your sample via USPS as soon as possible after collection.
Your samples must be received by the lab within 7 days of sample collection.
To prepare your sample for shipping,
Place the sample tube into the small plastic bag with the absorbent pad.
Place the small plastic bag into the biohazard bag.
Place the biohazard bag into the test kit box.
Place the completed test requisition form into the test kit box.
Place the test kit box into the provided shipping envelope.
Seal the envelope.
Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track your samples back to the lab.
Results
Results should be released to your provider 5-10 business days after your sample is received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
