The IgG Food Explorer measures total IgG antibodies to over 250 food antigens to help determine food sensitivities.


Key Details

  • 🩸 This test requires a finger stick collection of 250 uL of blood. If blood makes you queasy, it may be beneficial to have someone help you with this collection.

  • 💧 Hydrate before sample collection.

  • ❌ DO NOT refrigerate or freeze your sample.

  • 📄 Please print the requisition form from your Rupa patient portal and send it back with your samples. Your sample must be CLEARLY labeled and arrive at the lab with a completed test requisition form for the lab to analyze it.

  • 🚚 Ship your sample on the SAME DAY YOU COLLECT, Monday - Thursday only.


Preparation & Timing

  • Hydrate the day before sample collection.

  • Drink water 30 minutes before you draw your blood.

  • Continue taking any nutritional supplements and medications unless your healthcare provider says otherwise.


Collection Instructions

🩸 This test requires a finger stick collection of 250 uL of blood. If you are unable to collect this by yourself, you can get your blood drawn by a phlebotomist.

  • You may be required to pay a fee for phlebotomy.

  • Take THESE INSTRUCTIONS to the phlebotomist.

  1. Complete the test requisition form.

    1. NOTE: Your sample will not be analyzed by the lab if it arrives at the lab without a completed test requisition form.

  2. Wash your hands in warm water for at least 30 seconds.

  3. Dry your hands with a clean towel.

  4. To increase circulation (and make collection easier), try the following activities:

    1. Rubbing your hands together

    2. Swinging your arms around several times

    3. Shaking your arms

    4. Doing a few jumping jacks

  5. Place the foam tube holder on a flat surface.

  6. Unscrew the cap from the collection vial.

    1. DO NOT touch the inside of the cap.

    2. DO NOT touch the inside of the tube.

  7. Set the cap to the side.

  8. Insert the vial into the tube holder.

  9. Choose the finger you will use for collection.

    1. You must use your middle or ring finger.

    2. It is recommended to use the middle or ring finger on your non-dominant hand.

  10. Wipe your chosen finger with the alcohol wipe.

  11. Let your finger dry completely.

  12. Use a twisting motion to remove the cap from one lancet.

  13. Press the lancet firmly against the side of your finger.

    1. Press the purple button until you hear a click.

  14. Remove the lancet from the finger.

  15. Hold your finger in a downward position over the tube.

  16. Gently massage from your palm to the puncture site.

  17. Collect blood drops in the vial.

    1. DO NOT scrape/scoop the blood off of your finger using the tube. Let the blood drop into the tube on its own.

  18. You must collect a minimum of 250 ul of blood.

  19. When you are finished, bandage your finger.

  20. Press and twist the cap onto the top of the specimen vial.

  21. You must ship your sample the SAME DAY as you collect it.

    1. DO NOT place your sample in the refrigerator or freezer.

  22. To prepare your sample for shipping,

    1. Place the completed test requisition form into the outside pocket of the specimen bag.

    2. Place the closed collection vial into the specimen bag.

    3. Place the specimen bag into the test kit box.

    4. Place the test kit box into the provided FedEx return mailer.

    5. Seal the mailer.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

Please print the requisition form from your Rupa patient portal and send it back with your samples.

  • NOTE: Your sample will not be analyzed by the lab if your requisition form is not completed and sent with your sample.

  • You must complete your requisition form and send it back with your samples.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.


Shipping

  • Ship your sample on the SAME DAY YOU COLLECT IT.

  • Ship your sample Monday - Thursday only.

  • To prepare your sample for shipping,

    • Place the completed test requisition form into the outside pocket of the specimen bag.

    • Place the closed collection vial into the specimen bag.

    • Place the specimen bag into the test kit box.

    • Place the test kit box into the provided FedEx return mailer.

    • Seal the mailer.

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track your sample back to the lab.

  • Ship your sample via FedEx.

    • DO NOT place your sample in a FedEx drop box.

    • You can take your sample to the nearest FedEx location.

    • You can also schedule a FedEx pickup by calling 1-800-463-3339.

      • When the automated greeting begins, say, “Schedule a pickup.”

      • When asked if your label has the word “Stamp” on it, say, “Yes.”

      • Let them know you are shipping using a Billable Stamp.

      • Your tracking number can be found on the Return Label.


Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 5-10 business days after your sample is received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
