This test examines key hormones in your saliva to gain insights into your hormonal balance and overall health.
Key Details
You will collect four samples on one day.
If you are a premenopausal female, collect your sample between day 19 and. day 25 of your menstrual cycle.
Keep your samples in the freezer until you ship them.
Ship your samples within 2 days of sample collection.
Rupa Health recommends shipping your samples Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.
Preparation & Timing
You will collect four samples on one day.
If you are a male or a menopausal female, you can collect any day.
If you are a premenopausal female, collect your sample day between day 19 and day 25 of your menstrual cycle.
Day 1 is the first day of your period
If you are taking hormone medications, wait to take your medication until after you have collected your sample.
You do not need to discontinue any medications unless directed to by your healthcare provider.
Avoid the following activities for 1 hour before each sample collection.
Eating
Brushing your teeth
Flossing your teeth
Using mouthwash
Using lip balm
Chewing gum
Using tobacco products
Collection Instructions
You will collect four samples. You must collect all samples on the same day.
Choose the correct label for your sample (see chart above).
Write the following information on the label.
Date of birth
Date of collection
Open one GRAY-TOP saliva tube.
Rinse your mouth with water.
Spit the water out completely.
Fill the tube with saliva to the FILL LINE (1 mL mark) within 5 minutes of starting your collection.
Your sample should reach the FILL LINE (not including bubbles).
If there are bubbles in your sample, tap the tube on a hard surface to reduce foam for an accurate measurement.
Avoid getting mucus in your sample.
If you have trouble producing enough saliva, try
Pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth
Yawning
Thinking about your favorite food
When you have filled the tube to the 1 mL mark, place the cap tightly on the tube.
Write the following information on Label #2.
Time you started collection
Time you stopped collection
Place the tube in the biohazard bag.
Freeze the tube immediately.
Samples should be frozen for at least 2 hours before shipping.
Samples must remain frozen until they are shipped.
Repeat steps 1-11 for each of the four sample collections.
Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).
Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.
Requisition & Payment
Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.
You must complete your test registration and return your activation card with your samples.
Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.
Shipping
Ship your samples within 2 days of collection.
Rupa Health recommends shipping Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.
To prepare your samples for shipping,
Place the sample tubes into the freezer immediately after collection.
Leave your samples in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
When ready to ship, remove your sample tubes from the freezer.
Place the biohazard bag containing the 4 sample tubes into the test kit box.
Place the freezer brick into the test kit box.
Place the completed activation card into the test kit box.
Place the test kit box into the provided FedEx Clinical Pak.
Make a note of the return tracking number so you can track your sample back to the lab.
Ship your samples via FedEx.
You can take your samples to the nearest FedEx location.
DO NOT place your samples in a drop box.

Results
Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
