The Celiac & Gluten Sensitivity measures various markers to help differentiate between celiac disease and gluten sensitivity.

Key Details

  • No special diet is required.

  • If you have a blood clotting disorder or take blood-thinning medications, consult your healthcare provider prior to taking this test.

  • Hydrate prior to collection.

  • Ship your samples as soon as possible after collection.

Preparation & Timing

Collection Instructions

  1. Write the following information on the collection card.

    1. Patient's name

    2. Patient's date of birth

    3. Date of collection

  2. Open the card by folding the flap away from the blood drop circles.

    1. DO NOT touch the circles.

  3. Wash your hands using warm water.

  4. Dry your hands with a clean towel.

  5. Shake your arms and wiggle your fingers to get blood flowing.

  6. Choose the finger you will prick. It is recommended that you choose the middle or ring finger on your non-dominant hand.

    1. DO NOT use your pinky finger.

  7. Wipe your chosen finger with the provided alcohol wipe.

  8. Dry your finger with the sterile gauze pad.

  9. Remove the cap from the lancet.

  10. Press the lancet firmly against the outer edge of your finger until you hear a click.

  11. Wipe away the first drop of blood with the sterile gauze pad.

  12. Gently massage the length of your finger to form a large, hanging blood drop.

  13. Touch the blood drop to the center of a circle on the card.

    1. DO NOT touch the card with your finger.

    2. Blood should saturate through to both sides of the card.

    3. DO NOT place more than one drop on a circle.

  14. Repeat steps 12-13 to fill all of the collection circles.

    1. If you are unable to get sufficient blood, repeat the process using a different finger and the second lancet.

  15. When all the circles are filled, press the gauze pad against your finger until bleeding stops.

  16. Place the bandage on your finger.

  17. Allow the card to air dry for at least 3 hours.

    1. Keep the card away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat sources.

  18. Once the card is completely dry, close the flap.

  19. Place the card into the plastic ziplock bag with the desiccant pack.

  20. Place the sealed ziplock bag in the return mailing envelope.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • Ship your sample as soon as possible after shipping.

  • To prepare your sample for shipping,

    • Place the COMPLETELY DRY collection card in the provided ziplock bag with the desiccant pack.

    • Place the sealed ziplock bag in the provided return envelope.

    • Place the completed test requisition form in the return envelope.

    • Seal the envelope.

  • Make a note of your tracking number so that you can track your sample back to the lab.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 3-8 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
