The GI360 Profile detects and assesses pathogens, viruses, parasites, and bacteria to determine the cause of acute or chronic gastrointestinal symptoms and disease.


Key Details

  • Wait at least 4 weeks from your last colonoscopy or barium enema.

  • You must discontinue certain medications before testing.

  • Do not collect while menstruating or actively bleeding from hemorrhoids.

  • You should collect your samples on consecutive days.

  • Refrigerate the black and yellow top vials until they are shipped.

  • Freeze the white top vial for at least 6 hours prior to shipping.

  • Ship samples as soon as possible after collection.

    • Do NOT leave your samples in a FedEx drop box.


Preparation & Timing

  • Wait at least 4 weeks after a colonoscopy or barium enema before collecting your samples.

  • Do not collect while menstruating.

  • Do not collect while actively bleeding from hemorrhoids.

  • Avoid the following medications for 2 weeks before collection

    • Antibiotics

    • Antiparasitics

    • Antifungals

    • Probiotic supplements

    • Proton pump inhibitors

    • Bismuth

  • Avoid the following medications for 2 days before collection:

    • Aspirin

    • NSAIDs

    • Digestive enzymes

    • Laxatives

    • Mineral oil

    • Castor oil

    • Glycerin enemas/suppositories

    • Activated charcoal

    • Betaine HCl

    • Antacids

    • Bentonite clay


Collection Instructions

Day 1 Collection

  1. You will use the contents from the Day 1 bag.

  2. Write the patient's name, date of birth, and the date of collection on the sample vial.

  3. Urinate before collection.

  4. Collect stool in the supplied collection container.

    1. Do NOT contaminate the stool with urine or water.

    2. It may help to put plastic wrap over the toilet and then place the collection container on top of the plastic. You could also collect your sample on the plastic wrap.

  5. Put on the glove.

  6. Remove the cap from the BLACK vial.

    1. Do NOT remove or touch the preservative.

  7. Use the attached spoon to transfer some stool into the vial.

    1. Collect from different areas of the sample.

  8. Add enough stool until the liquid reaches the FILL LINE.

    1. Do NOT overfill.

  9. Screw the cap on tightly.

  10. Shake the vial vigorously for 30 seconds.

  11. Place the vial back into the Day 1 bag.

  12. Refrigerate the sample in the bag until shipping. Do NOT freeze.

Day 2 Collection

  1. You will use the contents from the Day 2 bag.

  2. Write the patient's name, date of birth, and the date of collection on the sample vial.

  3. Urinate before collection.

  4. Collect stool in the supplied collection container.

    1. Do NOT contaminate the stool with urine or water.

    2. It may help to put plastic wrap over the toilet and then place the collection container on top of the plastic. You could also collect your sample on the plastic wrap.

  5. Put on the glove.

Day 3 Collection

  1. You will use the contents from the Day 3 bag.

  2. Write the patient's name, date of birth, and the date of collection on the sample vial.

  3. Urinate before collection.

  4. Collect stool in the supplied collection container.

    1. Do NOT contaminate the stool with urine or water.

    2. It may help to put plastic wrap over the toilet and then place the collection container on top of the plastic. You could also collect your sample on the plastic wrap.

  5. Put on the glove.

  6. Remove the cap from the WHITE vial.

    1. This vial does not contain a liquid preservative.

  7. Use the attached spoon to transfer some stool into the vial.

    1. Collect from different areas of the sample.

  8. Add enough stool until it reaches the FILL LINE.

    1. Do NOT overfill.

  9. Screw the cap on tightly.

  10. Do NOT shake the WHITE vial.

  11. Place the WHITE vial into the separate bag provided and seal.

  12. Place the included Polar Ice Pack into the pouch on the back of the bag.

  13. Place the bag with the WHITE vial and ice pack into the freezer.

    1. Freeze for a minimum of 6 hours prior to shipping.

  14. Remove the cap from the BLACK vial.

    1. Do NOT remove or touch the preservative.

  15. Use the attached spoon to transfer some stool into the vial.

    1. Collect from different areas of the sample.

  16. Add enough stool until the liquid reaches the FILL LINE.

    1. Do NOT overfill.

  17. Screw the cap on tightly.

  18. Shake the BLACK vial vigorously for 30 seconds.

  19. Remove the cap from the YELLOW vial.

    1. Do NOT remove or touch the preservative.

  20. Use the attached spoon to transfer some stool into the vial.

    1. Collect from different areas of the sample.

  21. Add enough stool until the liquid reaches the FILL LINE.

    1. Do NOT overfill.

  22. Screw the cap on tightly.

  23. Shake the YELLOW vial vigorously for 30 seconds.

  24. Place the BLACK and YELLOW vials into the Day 3 bag.

  25. Refrigerate the BLACK and YELLOW vials in the bag prior to shipping. Do NOT freeze.

Prepare for Shipping

  1. Remove the bag containing the WHITE top vial from the freezer after at least 6 hours.

  2. Place the WHITE top vial bag and Polar Ice Pack in the test kit box.

  3. Remove the other vials (in the bags) from the refrigerator.

  4. Place the Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 collection bags in the test kit box.

  5. Place the completed test requisition form into the test kit box and close.

  6. Place the test kit box in the provided, prepaid FedEx Clinical Pak mailer.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.


Shipping

  • Ship as soon as possible after collection.

    • Leave WHITE top vial in the freezer until ready to ship.

    • Leave the BLACK and YELLOW top vials in the refrigerator until ready to ship.

  • To prepare samples for shipping,

    • Remove the bag containing the WHITE top vial from the freezer after at least 6 hours.

    • Place the WHITE top vial bag and Polar Ice Pack in the test kit box.

    • Remove the other vials (in the bags) from the refrigerator.

    • Place the Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 collection bags in the test kit box.

    • Place the completed test requisition form into the test kit box and close.

    • Place the test kit box in the provided, prepaid FedEx Clinical Pak mailer.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track the samples back to the lab.

  • Ship via FedEx.

    • To schedule a FedEx pickup, call 1-800-463-3339.

      • When the automated greeting begins, say, “Schedule a pickup.”

      • When asked if your label has the word “Stamp” on it, say, “Yes.”

      • Let them know you are shipping using a Billable Stamp.

      • Your tracking number can be found on the Return Label.

    • Do NOT place your samples in a FedEx drop box.


Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 3-8 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
