This test measures the levels of zonulin in serum. Elevated zonulin levels are correlated with intestinal permeability, as well as a wide variety of other health conditions.

Key Details

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Friday only.

    • You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Fasting is not required.

  • You must avoid certain medications for 72 hours prior to your blood draw.

Preparation & Timing

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Friday only.

  • Fasting is not required.

  • Avoid the following medications for 72 hours prior to your blood draw.

    • Non-essential medications

    • Dietary supplements (especially those containing biotin)

    • DO NOT discontinue any prescription medications without contacting your healthcare provider.

  • Freeze the provided freezer brick for at least 6 hours prior to your blood draw.

Collection Instructions

  1. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Entire test kit (including the cardboard shipping box)

    2. Frozen ice pack

    3. Completed test requisition form

  2. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • The phlebotomist will ship your sample for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

  • Samples should be shipped Monday - Friday only.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 3-8 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
