The DNA Oxidative Damage Assay provides a quantitative assessment of ongoing oxidative damage or stress in the body.

Key Details

  • Collect your sample upon waking.

  • Do not collect your sample while menstruating.

  • Sample must be shipped as soon as possible, Monday - Friday only.

  • Freeze sample until ready to ship.

  • Do NOT place your sample in a FedEx drop box.

Preparation & Timing

  • Sample collection must take place upon waking.

  • Do not collect your sample while menstruating.

  • No special diet or preparation is needed.

Collection Instructions

  1. Collect your first morning urine in the provided specimen collection cup.

  2. Pour the urine into the specimen vial.

  3. Fill the vial to the top of the label.

  4. Screw the cap on tightly.

  5. Write the patient's name, date of birth, and the date of collection on the specimen vial and test requisition form.

  6. Place the specimen vial into the ziplock bag.

  7. Place the ziplock bag and provided ice pack into the freezer for at least 6 hours.

  8. Once the sample and ice pack are frozen solid, place the frozen ice pack in the bottom of the styrofoam insulation shell.

  9. Place the sample (in the ziplock bag) on top of the ice pack.

  10. Close the styrofoam shell.

  11. Place the styrofoam shell in the cardboard shipping box.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • Ship your sample Monday - Friday only.

  • Ship your sample as soon as possible after collection.

    • Freeze your sample until ready to ship.

  • To prepare your sample for shipping,

    • Place the frozen ice pack in the bottom of the styrofoam insulation shell.

    • Place the sample (in the ziplock bag) on top of the ice pack.

    • Close the styrofoam shell.

    • Place the styrofoam shell in the cardboard shipping box.

    • Place the completed test requisition form in the cardboard box.

    • Place the cardboard box in the FedEx Clinical Pak.

    • Fill in your information on the Billable Stamp.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • Ship via FedEx.

    • To schedule a FedEx pickup, call 1-800-463-3339.

      • When the automated greeting begins, say, “Schedule a pickup.”

      • When asked if your label has the word “Stamp” on it, say, “Yes.”

      • Let them know you are shipping using a Billable Stamp.

      • Your tracking number can be found on the Return Label.

    • Do NOT place the sample in a FedEx drop box.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 3-8 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
