The Stool Chemistry test investigates the efficiency of digestion and absorption and the extent of inflammation in the gastrointestinal system.


Key Details

  • 💊 You must avoid certain medications before and during sample collection.

  • 🩸 DO NOT collect while actively bleeding from hemorrhoids or menstruation.

  • 🧊 Freeze your sample until you are ready to ship.

  • 🚚 Ship your sample as soon as possible after collection, Monday - Friday only.


Preparation & Timing

  • Wait at least 4 weeks from a colonoscopy or barium enema before

    sample collection.

  • Avoid the following medications for 2 weeks before sample collection.

    • Antibotics

    • Antiparasitics

    • Antifungals

    • Probiotic supplements

    • Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)

    • Bismuth

    • DO NOT discontinue any medications without first consulting your healthcare provider.

  • Avoid the following medications for 2 days before sample collection.

    • Aspirin and other NSAIDs

    • Digestive enzymes

    • Laxatives, especially the below:

      • Mineral oil

      • Castor oil

      • Gycerin enemas/ suppositories

    • Activated charcoal

    • Betaine HCl

    • Antacids

    • Bentonite clay

    • DO NOT discontinue any medications without first consulting your healthcare provider.

  • DO NOT collect while actively bleeding from hemorrhoids or menstruation.

  • Consume a normal diet prior to your collection.


Collection Instructions

  1. Write the following information on the WHITE-top vial.

    1. Patient's name

    2. Patient's date of birth

    3. Date of collection

  2. Urinate prior to collection.

  3. Collect stool in the supplied collection container.

    1. DO NOT contaminate the stool with urine or water.

    2. It may help to put plastic wrap over the toilet and then place the collection container on top of the plastic. You could also collect your sample on the plastic wrap.

  4. Put on the glove.

  5. Remove the cap from the WHITE-top vial.

  6. Use the attached spoon to transfer the stool into the vial.

    1. Collect from different areas of the sample.

  7. Add enough stool until it reaches the FILL LINE.

    1. DO NOT overfill.

  8. Screw the cap on tightly.

  9. Place the WHITE-top vial into the provided bag provided and seal.

  10. Place the included Polar Ice Pack into the pouch on the back of the bag.

  11. Place the bag into the freezer. Freeze until frozen solid.

  12. When you are ready to ship, remove the bag containing the WHITE-top vial from the freezer.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • You must complete your requisition form and send it back with your samples.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.


Shipping

  • Ship as soon as possible after collection, Monday - Friday only.

    • Leave WHITE-top vial in the freezer until ready to ship.

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Remove the bag containing the WHIT- top vial from the freezer.

    • Place the WHITE top vial and Polar Ice Pack into the test kit box.

    • Place the completed test requisition form into the test kit box.

    • Place the test kit box in the provided, prepaid FedEx Clinical Pak mailer.

    • Seal the mailer.

    • Fill in the Billable Stamp.

    • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • Ship your sample via FedEx.

    • To schedule a FedEx pickup, call 1-800-463-3339.

    • DO NOT place your samples in a FedEx drop box.


Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 3-8 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
