The Hepatic Detox Profile is designed to measure acids released as part of the body's detoxification process. This analysis provides information about a patient's liver function and exposure to toxins.

Key Details

  • Collect your sample upon waking.

  • If you are taking medications or supplements containing sulfur, collect your sample at least 4 days after finishing your course of medication.

  • Avoid non-essential medications, dietary supplements, and alcohol for 72 hours prior to and during collection.

  • Do not collect your sample while menstruating.

  • Sample must be shipped as soon as possible, Monday - Friday only.

  • Refrigerate sample until ready to ship.

Preparation & Timing

  • Sample collection must take place upon waking.

  • If you are taking medications or supplements containing sulfur, collect your sample 4 days after finishing the course of medication.

    • Examples: DMSA, DMPS, and MSM

  • If you are taking any of the following medications, you may have an elevated D-glucaric acid result.

    • Barbiturates

    • Tranquilizers

    • Digoxins

    • Quinidine

    • Alcohol

  • Avoid non-essential medications, dietary supplements, and alcohol for 72 hours prior to and during collection.

    • Do not discontinue prescription medications without consulting your healthcare provider.

  • Do not collect your sample while menstruating.

Collection Instructions

  1. Collect your first morning urine in the provided specimen collection cup.

  2. Pour the urine into the specimen vial.

  3. Fill the vial to the top of the label.

  4. Screw the cap on tightly.

  5. Write the patient's name, date of birth, and the date of collection on the specimen vial.

  6. Place the specimen vial into the ziplock bag with the absorbent pad.

  7. Place the ziplock bag into the cardboard shipping box.

  8. Place the completed test requisition form into the shipping box.

  9. If you cannot ship the sample immediately, refrigerate the sample until ready to ship.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • Ship samples Monday - Friday only.

  • Ship samples as soon as possible after collection.

    • Refrigerate samples until ready to ship.

  • To prepare your samples for shipping,

    • Place the specimen vial into the ziplock bag.

    • Place the ziplock bag into the cardboard shipping box.

    • Place the completed test requisition form into the shipping box.

    • Place the shipping box into the provided, prepaid FedEx Clinical Pak mailer.

  • Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • Ship via FedEx.

    • To schedule a FedEx pickup, call 1-800-463-3339.

      • When the automated greeting begins, say, “Schedule a pickup.”

      • When asked if your label has the word “Stamp” on it, say, “Yes.”

      • Let them know you are shipping using a Billable Stamp.

      • Your tracking number can be found on the Return Label.

    • Do NOT place the sample in a FedEx drop box.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 3-8 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
