π½οΈ You must avoid certain foods and medications for 5 days before sample collection.
π Ship your sample as soon as possible after collection, Monday - Friday only.
Preparation & Timing
DO NOT collect while menstruating.
Avoid the following foods and medications for 5 days before and during the collection.
Seaweed/kelp
Fish
Sea vegetables
Any other foods containing iodine/iodide
Iodine supplements
Non-essential medications
DO NOT discontinue any prescription medications before consulting your healthcare practitioner.
DO NOT consume more than 3.5 liters/15 cups of liquid during the collection period.
Collection Instructions
Immediately upon waking, collect your urine into the provided collection cup.
Pour the urine into the specimen vial labeled "#1 PRE."
Fill the vial to the top of the label.
Tighten the cap securely.
Discard the remaining urine.
Write the following information on the specimen vial.
Name
Date of birth
Date of collection
Place the vial into the ziplock bag.
Place the bag into a refrigerator.
Fill in the "Random 'PRE' Sample #1 Information" section on the test requisition form.
Take the iodine loading dose as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Note: If you have questions about the iodine loading dose, please reach out to your healthcare provider.
Collect all of your urine for the next 24 hours, including your first morning urination the next day.
Collect each urination in the provided specimen collection cup.
Pour the urine into the orange collection container.
Place the orange collection container in the refrigerator between collections.
*NOTE* If you fill the orange collection container before the 24 hours are over, move to step 11.
Once the 24 hours are over, place the orange collection container on a level surface.
Read the volume from the markings on the container.
Fill in the "24-hour 'POST' Sample #2 Information" on the test requisition form.
Shake the orange collection container for at least 30 seconds.
Pour urine into the vial labeled "POST Sample #2."
Fill the vial to the top of the label.
Tighten the cap securely.
Write the following information on the specimen vial.
Name
Date of birth
Date of collection
Place the vial into the ziplock bag containing sample 1.
Place the bag into the cardboard shipping box.
Place the completed test requisition form into the cardboard shipping box.
If you cannot ship your samples the same day you finish collection, place them in the refrigerator until you ship.
Requisition & Payment
Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.
You must complete your requisition form and send it back with your samples.
Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in any payment information on this form.
Shipping
Ship samples as soon as possible after collection, Monday through Friday only.
If you cannot ship your samples the same day you finish collection, place them in the refrigerator until you ship.
To prepare your samples for shipping,
Place the samples into the cardboard kit box.
Place the completed test requisition form into the cardboard kit box.
Place the cardboard kit box into the FedEx Clinical Pak.
Seal the FedEx Clinical Pak.
Fill in the prepaid Billable stamp and place it on the Clinical Pak.
Make a note of the tracking number so that you can track your samples back to the lab.
Ship your sample via FedEx.
DO NOT place your samples in a FedEx drop box.
Results
Results should be released to your provider 3-8 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
