The NutrEval® FMV measures over 100 biomarkers to evaluate nutritional imbalances and insufficiencies and the presence of certain toxins.

Key Details

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

    • You may need to pay an additional fee for phlebotomy.

    • Rupa Health recommends getting your blood drawn and samples shipped Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • You must fast for at least 8 hours prior to your urine collection and your blood draw.

  • Samples should be collected within a few days of each other.

  • Do not collect urine while menstruating.

  • Certain medications may need to be discontinued prior to your test. See below for details.

  • Limit fluid intake to a total of 48 oz for the 24 hours prior to urine collection.

Preparation & Timing

  • If you are a cycling woman, do not collect during menstruation.

Scheduling

  • Collect your urine samples before your blood draw.

    • Bring your completely frozen urine samples to your blood draw appointment.

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist.

    • Rupa Health recommends getting your blood drawn and samples shipped Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

Timeline

  • 4 days prior to sample collection

    • Your healthcare provider may want you to discontinue nonessential supplements and medications.

    • Consult your healthcare provider before discontinuing any medications.

  • 24 hours prior to urine collection

    • Limit fluid intake to 48 oz over the entire 24-hour period.

    • Eat your usual diet, but avoid an extreme diet or over-consuming any single food.

  • The night before urine collection

    • Fast for at least 8 hours prior to your sample collection.

      • You can drink water during the fast.

    • Freeze the included freezer brick for a minimum of 8 hours.

    • If you have the genomic SNP add-ons, avoid using mouthwash.

  • The night before blood collection

    • Fast for at least 8 hours prior to your sample collection.

      • You can drink water during the fast.

    • Freeze the included freezer brick for a minimum of 8 hours.

Collection Instructions

Urine

  1. If you wake to urinate during the night, within 6 hours of waking, collect urine into a sterile collection container or a clean, disposable container (not provided).

    1. Refrigerate urine.

    2. Use this same container to collect urine upon waking in the morning.

  2. Immediately upon waking for the day, collect urine in a sterile collection container or a clean, disposable container.

    1. If you woke during the night, use the same container you did at night. Do not dispose of any of the urine.

    2. Genova does not provide a collection container.

  3. Fill the container and pass any additional urine into the toilet.

  4. Use the pipette to transfer urine from the collection container into the GREEN-top preservative tube until nearly full.

    1. DO NOT touch or discard any preservatives in the tube.

  5. Use the pipette to transfer urine from the collection container into the BLUE-top amber tube until nearly full.

    1. DO NOT touch or discard any preservatives in the tube.

    2. PLEASE NOTE: Due to global supply-chain issues the Blue-top Amber Tube will be temporarily replaced with a Black-top Amber Tube. Either tube will be accepted for this test.

  6. Use the pipette to transfer urine from the collection container into the GREEN-top urine tube until nearly full.

    1. DO NOT touch or discard the preservatives in the tube.

  7. Recap the tubes tightly.

  8. Shake the tubes.

  9. Write the following information on the provided labels.

    1. Patient's date of birth

    2. Date of collection

  10. Place the labels on each tube.

  11. Place the tubes into the biohazard bag labeled "Bag 1."

  12. Freeze the urine samples for a minimum of 2 hours.

    1. NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.

  13. Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).

    1. Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

  14. Collect the genomic SNP add-ons (if ordered).

  15. Place the following materials into the insulator box.

    1. Biohazard bag with frozen urine tubes

    2. Frozen freezer pack

  16. Place the insulator box into the outer collection box.

  17. Place the completed activation card into the outer collection box.

  18. Bring this box with you to your blood draw.


Blood

  1. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Test kit

    2. Frozen urine samples (as prepared above)

    3. Frozen freezer brick

    4. Completed activation card

  2. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your samples for you.

  3. NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay an additional fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to complete your test registration can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.

Shipping

  • NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.

  • Bring your test kit and frozen urine samples to your blood draw appointment.

    • Place the following items into the biohazard bag.

      • Frozen urine tubes

      • Frozen freezer brick

      • Absorbent material

    • Place the biohazard bag into the insulator box.

    • Place the insulator box into the outer collection box.

    • Place the completed activation card into the outer collection box.

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • The phlebotomist will ship your samples for you with the materials included in the test kit.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
