Key Details

Do not collect while menstruating.
Avoid extreme diets and over-consuming any one food for 24 hours prior to sample collection.
You must fast overnight prior to sample collection.
You must avoid certain activities on the morning of sample collection.
Collect your sample immediately upon waking.
Collect your samples all on the same day.

4 days before the test
- Your physician may want you to discontinue nonessential supplements and medications.
- Consult your physician before discontinuing any medications.
24 hours before collection
- Eat your usual diet.
- Avoid over-consuming any one food or consuming any extreme diet.
- Limit fluid intake to 48 oz over the whole 24 hour period.
The night before collection
- Do NOT use mouthwash.
- You may brush and floss your teeth as normal.
- Fast overnight. You may drink water during the fast.
The morning of collection
- Collect sample immediately upon waking.
- Avoid the following activities:
  - Brushing your teeth
  - Flossing your teeth
  - Using mouthwash
  - Eating
  - Drinking anything but water
- You will collect all of your samples on the same day.

Collect your samples immediately upon waking (before eating, drinking, brushing your teeth, etc.).
Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water.
Dry your hands with a clean towel.
Gently peel open the package labeled "Sterile Cotton Tipped Applicator."
1. Keep the package intact.
2. Only peel it open enough to remove the applicator.
Remove ONE cotton swab applicator.
1. DO NOT touch the cotton tip.
Open your mouth widely.
Insert the cotton tip of the swab applicator.
Aggressively scrape the inside of your cheek for at least 30 seconds.
1. Use a back and forth, up and down motion.
2. Rotate the applicator several times.
3. Swab between the cheek and gums.
4. Avoid excessive saliva.
Allow the swab to air dry for 15-20 minutes.
1. DO NOT let the cotton tip touch any surface or your hands.
Repeat steps 5-9 with the second swab.
Once the swabs have dried, place them back into the applicator package, cotton tip first.
Write the following information on the labels.
1. Your date of birth
2. The date of collection
Attach a completed label to the envelope.
Insert the swab applicator package into the provided envelope and seal.
Place the envelope into the test kit box with your other samples.
Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).
1. Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.
Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
