The Vitamin D NutrEval® add-on is evaluated from the blood sample taken as a part of your regular NutrEval® test. It measures your Vitamin D levels.

Key Details

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

    • You may need to pay an additional fee for phlebotomy.

    • Rupa Health recommends getting your blood drawn and samples shipped Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • You must fast for at least 8 hours prior to your blood draw.

  • You must collect your urine samples prior to your blood draw.

  • Certain medications may need to be discontinued prior to your test. See below for details.

Preparation & Timing

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist.

    • Rupa Health recommends getting your blood drawn and samples shipped Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

  • You must collect your urine samples prior to your blood draw.

    • Bring your completely frozen urine samples to your blood draw appointment.

  • Check the instructions for your NutrEval test for more specific preparation and collection information:

Collection Instructions

  1. Complete the test registration (instructions HERE).

    1. Please ensure that the name on the registration matches the name on your Rupa order EXACTLY. If it does not match, you may need to recollect your samples.

  2. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Test kit

    2. Frozen urine samples

    3. Frozen freezer brick

    4. Completed activation card

  3. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your samples for you.

    1. You can view the phlebotomist collection instructions HERE (NutrEval® FMV) and HERE (NutrEval® Plasma).

  4. NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay an additional fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to complete your test registration can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on this form.

Shipping

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return label so you can track your samples back to the lab.

  • NOTE: If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, Genova recommends shipping with dry ice to ensure your samples arrive frozen, as overnight shipping is not guaranteed due to the distance. If your samples do not arrive frozen, you may need to recollect. Please note on your activation card if you use dry ice.

  • Bring your test kit and frozen urine samples to your blood draw appointment.

    • Place the following materials in the biohazard bag.

      • Frozen urine tubes

      • Frozen freezer brick

      • Absorbent material

    • Place the biohazard bag into the insulator box.

    • Place the insulator box into the outer collection box.

  • The phlebotomist will ship your samples for you with the materials included in the test kit.

  • Rupa Health recommends getting your blood drawn and samples shipped Monday - Thursday only to avoid shipment delays.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
