This panel consists of the Neurotransmitters and Micronutrients tests. The Neurotransmitter test is analyzed through a urine sample, while the Micronutrients test is analyzed through a blood sample collected by a licensed phlebotomist.

Key Details

  • You must avoid certain foods for 48 hours before urine collection.

  • If you are a menstruating woman, collect urine according to the schedule below.

  • You will collect four urine samples over one day.

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Friday only.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

    • You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Freeze the provided ice pack for at least 24 hours prior to your blood draw.

Preparation & Timing

Urine Collection

  • Avoid the following foods for 48 hours before collection.

    • Bananas

    • Pineapples

    • Nuts

    • Alcohol

    • Protein powders

    • Protein shakes

  • If you are a menstruating woman, collect according to the following schedule.

    • Regular cycles: Collect on Day 19, 20, or 21 of your cycle.

      • Day 1 = the first day of your period.

    • Irregular cycles: Collect 5 days before your period begins.

    • Unpredictable cycles: Collect any day when not bleeding.

  • You will collect four urine samples throughout one day.

Blood Collection

  • Blood sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist, Monday - Friday only.

  • Fasting is not required.

  • Freeze the provided freezer pack for at least 24 hours prior to your blood draw.

    • Bring the ice pack with you to your blood draw.

Collection Instructions

Urine Collection

  1. Prior to eating or drinking, collect your first morning urine in the provided urine collection cup.

  2. Open the BLUE specimen tube.

  3. Use the pipette to transfer the urine from the cup to the specimen tube.

    1. Fill to the top of the tube label.

  4. Recap the specimen tube by pushing down and twisting slightly.

  5. Write your name, date of birth, and the date and time of collection on the provided label.

  6. Place the label on the tube.

  7. Discard any urine remaining in the collection cup.

  8. Rinse the collection cup and pipette thoroughly and dry in a well-ventilated area.

  9. Repeat steps 1-8 for the other three collections.

    1. COLLECTION 2: 2 hours after waking

      1. YELLOW tube

    2. COLLECTION 3: Evening - before dinner

      1. GREEN tube

    3. COLLECTION 4: Night - before bed

      1. RED tube

  10. Place all four specimen tubes into the biohazard bag and seal completely.

  11. Bring your urine samples with you to your blood draw.

Blood Collection

  1. Bring the following items with you to your blood draw appointment.

    1. Test kit

    2. Frozen freezer pack

    3. Urine samples

    4. Completed test requisition form

  2. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

    1. Your test kit may come with more tubes than needed. Please have the phlebotomist check the collection instructions and your test requisition form to determine the correct tubes to draw.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE.

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • The phlebotomist will ship your samples for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-14 days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.
