The TruAge tests analyze your methylation markers to learn about aging and health. These instructions are for the MICROTAINER EDTA test, which requires a finger stick EDTA collection of 250 uL of blood. If you have the BLOOD SPOT test, see the instructions here.


Key Details

  • 🩸 This test requires a finger stick EDTA collection of 250 uL of blood. If blood makes you queasy, it may be beneficial to have someone help you with this collection.

  • ❄️ Place your sample in the refrigerator until it is shipped.

  • 🚚 Ship your sample via USPS as soon as possible after collection.


Preparation & Timing

  • Hydrate for 24 hours before sample collection.

  • Continue taking your medications and supplements as normal.


Collection Instructions

  1. Complete the online test registration by scanning the QR code on your kit or visiting www.trudiagnostic.com/register.

  2. Take a picture of the barcode on your kit.

  3. Remove the cap on the sample collection tube.

  4. Place the collection tube upright in the kit's circular slot.

  5. Wash your hands in warm, soapy water.

  6. Dry your hands thoroughly with a clean towel.

  7. Open all materials.

  8. Do one or more of the following activities to increase circulation.

    1. Rub your hands together

    2. Swing your arms around several times

    3. Shake your arms

    4. Do a few jumping jacks

  9. Use the alcohol wipe to clean one finger for the collection.

    1. It is recommended to use your middle or ring finger on your non-dominant hand.

  10. Let your finger dry.

  11. Twist the lancet top to remove the blue cap.

  12. Place the lancet against the side of your fingertip.

  13. Press down firmly to prick your finger with the lancet.

    1. You should hear a click.

  14. Wipe away the first drop of blood with the gauze pad.

  15. Collect your blood by holding the capillary dropper horizontally against the puncture point.

  16. Fill the dropper to the white line.

  17. Transfer the blood to the collection tube by pressing the dropper's purple top.

    1. Your blood should reach the "250 uL" line.

  18. Once you have filled the tube, apply the bandage to your finger.

  19. Place the cap back on the collection tube.

    1. Firmly push it down until you hear a click.

  20. Shake the tube for 5 seconds.

  21. Place the tube in the provided biohazard bag.

  22. Seal the bag.

  23. Place the biohazard bag into the refrigerator.

    1. Your sample should remain in the refrigerator until it is shipped.

  24. When you are ready to ship your sample,

    1. Place the biohazard bag into the provided return envelope.

    2. Seal the envelope and ship as soon as possible.


Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR TEST ONLINE. Your sample will not be analyzed until your test has been registered.


Shipping

  • Your sample should remain in the refrigerator until it is shipped.

  • To prepare your sample for shipping,

    • Place the sample collection tube into the biohazard bag.

    • Place the biohazard bag into the provided return envelope.

    • Seal the return envelope.

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return envelope so that you can track your sample back to the lab.

  • Ship your sample via USPS as soon as possible.


Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 2-3 weeks after your sample is received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
