Preparation & Timing

  • Avoid the antibiotics for 4 weeks before sample collection.

    • DO NOT discontinue prescription medications without consulting your child's healthcare provider.

  • Avoid probiotic supplements for 5 days before sample collection.

    • DO NOT discontinue prescription medications without consulting your child's healthcare provider.


Collection Instructions

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.

  2. Have a bowel movement.

  3. Wipe as normal.

  4. Lay a piece of soiled toilet paper or a soiled diaper on a clean surface.

  5. Open the swab collection tube by twisting and pulling.

  6. Lightly touch the swab tip to the soiled toilet paper or diaper.

    1. You only need a slight dab of stool on the swab.

    2. DO NOT touch the swab with any unsoiled toilet paper or diaper.

  7. Place the swab back in the tube.

    1. Make sure you hear a CLICK.

  8. Place the swab tube into the USPS mailer.

  9. Make a note of the kit ID. This ID can be found on the test kit box and the sample tubes.

  10. Complete the test registration.


Requisition & Payment

  • The kit has been prepaid. You DO NOT need to pay anything extra.

  • Make a note of the kit ID. This ID can be found on the test kit box and the sample tubes.

  • You must also complete the online kit registration.


Shipping

  • Ship the sample via USPS within 5 days of collection.

  • To prepare the sample for shipping,

    • Place the swab collection tube into the provided USPS mailer.

    • Seal the USPS mailer.

  • Make a note of the tracking number on the return mailer so that you can track the sample back to the lab.

  • Take the sample to the nearest USPS location.

    • DO NOT place the sample in a drop box.


Results

  • Results should be released to your child's provider approximately 4 weeks after the sample is received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
