This test is an add-on to the CV Health or CV Health Plus Genomics tests. It measures a patient's Vitamin D levels.

Key Details

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist.

    • Information about scheduling a blood draw can be found HERE.

    • You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to sample collection.

  • Avoid exercise for at least 12 hours prior to sample collection.

  • Fast overnight (at least 12 hours) prior to sample collection.

  • Freeze the provided freezer brick for at least 8 hours prior to your blood draw. Bring it to your blood draw.

  • The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

Preparation & Timing

  • Sample collection must be performed by a phlebotomist.

  • If you take aspirin or cholesterol-lowering drugs, consult your healthcare practitioner prior to sample collection.

  • If you are taking S-adenosyl-methionine, methotrexate, carbamazepine, phenytoin, nitrous oxide, anti-convulsants, or 6-azauridine triacetates, your homocysteine results may be inaccurate.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to sample collection.

  • The night before sample collection,

    • Avoid exercise for at least 12 hours prior to sample collection.

    • Fast overnight (at least 12 hours) prior to sample collection.

    • Freeze the provided freezer brick for at least 8 hours prior to your blood draw appointment.

Collection Instructions

  1. Freeze the provided freezer brick for at least 8 hours prior to your blood draw.

  2. Bring the entire test kit, frozen freezer brick, saliva samples (for the CV Health Plus Genomics™ test), and completed test requisition form with you to your blood draw appointment.

  3. Your blood draw can only be done and shipped Monday - Thursday.

  4. The phlebotomist will collect, prepare, and ship your sample for you.

Requisition & Payment

  • Your kit has been prepaid. You may need to pay a separate fee for phlebotomy.

  • Instructions on how to fill out your requisition can be found HERE (insurance pay) and HERE (cash pay).

    • Since you pre-paid for your tests, you do not need to fill in the payment information on any of these forms.

Shipping

  • The phlebotomist will ship your sample for you using the materials provided in the test kit.

  • Samples can only be shipped Monday - Thursday.

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-21 business days after samples are received at the lab. We cannot guarantee processing time.

  • Your provider will notify you when your results are in and schedule a follow-up appointment for you to review them together.

  • Your provider may choose to release your results to you. Rupa cannot release your results without provider authorization.
